Groups are a cost-effective way of providing learning/personal development opportunities in a range of therapeutic, professional and educational settings. Groups members benefit from sharing experiences/expertise and practising new ways of managing relationships. This intensive programme provides a safe and stimulating environment in which to develop group facilitation skills.
The programme is residential and operates over 4 long weekends at Teach Bhride in Tullow, Co.Carlow. It is suitable for people who work in a variety of settings including, education, social services psychotherapy services or voluntary organisations. Participants will be provided with an opportunity to develop the knowledge, skills and confidence required to organise, administer, run and evaluate groups. The live group will be used as a teaching tool and students should come prepared to explore their own process in groups (both past and present) to facilitate learning.
To qualify for the award of the Diploma in Groupwork, participants will be expected to complete a written paper in which they present a critical reflection of their experience of running a group. If you are unable to complete this assignment because you are not currently working with a group, you will be given an extension of six months during which time tutors will be available for consultation.
